Masonic Angels Help 29 Families
Harwich - Harwich schoolchildren from 29 families received holiday assistance from the Harwich Pilgrim Lodge Masonic Angel Fund last month.
The Masons, working in conjunction with Harwich Elementary and Middle schools' staff, provided $1,000 for 13 families of elementary students and $400 for 16 families of middle school students. Last year, the fund provided $900 in holiday assistance.
The fund also provided a scooter and a helmet to an elementary school student as part of a donation program from Idle Times Bike Shop in Eastham.
Additionally, tickets were given to three fourth-graders to attend the "Nutcracker" with their class last month. The Masons also participated with other organizations to provide funding for students at the middle school to attend the "Harry Potter" movie as part of a school field trip.
The Masonic Angel Fund is a national charity organization founded in 1998 by Eastham residents John Alden Sherman and Robert Fellows at the Universal Masonic Lodge in Orleans. The foundation was established in 2000 to promoted the Angel Fund program across the nation.
Every Masonic Lodge in Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties operates a Masonic Angel Fund. All money raised by the Harwich Masonic Angel Fund goes toward the children in the community.
