Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc. - "Angel Mail" Update – June 13, 2013
Thank you letter from the Dedham Youth Commission
Dear Masonic Angel Fund,
The staff of the Dedham Youth Commission would like to give a huge thank you to your foundation for your generous donation. The Dedham Youth Commission is dedicated to providing social, educational, recreational, and health programs to the young people of Dedham and we would like to thank you for helping the DYC fulfill its mission.
Your quick response and substantial contribution of four computers to our College Bound Program has had a huge impact. The College Bound Program gives students the opportunity to come after school on Wednesdays to work on assignments, participate in college prep workshops, and have fun at the same time. In their weekly after-school sessions, students are now able to create Word documents, conduct research on the internet, and funnel their creative abilities in a different way. This has been especially helpful, as many of the students do not have home computers and they are now able to complete computer-related homework assignments through the program.
We would also like to give you an enormous thank you for your donation of $500 to put towards our College Bound Summer Program. Your contribution has enabled two additional students to enroll. Thanks to your donation, these students will be able to participate in a program to help them look forward to college and the future.
College Bound is a three-week summer program primarily for low-income and/or first generation Dedham middle school students who are currently in Grade 7 and entering Grade 8 in the Fall of 2013. The goal of College Bound is to excite students about college, expose them to various careers and encourage them to lead healthy lives. During the first week of the program, students will live at Regis College and experience the life of a college student. Students will learn how to live with a roommate, participate in Science and Critical Thinking courses, write essays, share ideas during class debates, play basketball, go swimming, attend career panel discussions, and enjoy nightly dance and karaoke parties. Students will also eat three delicious and nutritious meals a day in the cafeteria. During the second week of the program, students will participate in college tours across New England. During the 3rd week of the program, students will participate in job shadow days around Dedham.
Once again, we thank you for your generous assistance in making these programs possible!
