The Siloam Masonic Angel Fund of Westborough, MA was recently honored with the "Champion of Education" award at the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s School-Business Partnership Breakfast held on March 25, 2009.

Donna Cox, Chairman of the School Business-Partnership Committee stated, “Corridor Nine has been presenting these awards since 1995 and this will be the first time we will proudly recognize ‘Angels’ for their outstanding contributions and support to our schools."

“The Masonic Angels have been helping children in need since 1998. For many years, the Siloam Masonic Lodge located in Westborough has been changing the lives of children for the better within their geographical area of Westborough, Northborough, and Upton."

Ms. Cox went on to describe how the Fund operates and quoted two school Principals, Pattie Berkey of Hastings Elementary School in Westborough, "The Masonic Angels came to the rescue of one of our second graders who fell and broke off her front tooth. The parents had no jobs, much less dental insurance. Before the end of the hour in which the injury happened the dentist had been arranged and all other details taken care of. They are once again our heroes! Thank you."

Margaret Donohoe of the Proctor School in Northborough stated, "Happiness is being able to call the Masonic Angel Fund to request assistance for one of our students and having them say ‘of course we can support this student. This is part of our mission.’ ” Ms. Donohoe continued, "Over the past several years, I have shared my thoughts many times about the Masons’ phenomenal outreach program but I’m compelled to reiterate my feelings. Your program's mission is very special - you truly make a difference in the lives of Families here in our school community.”

Ms. Cox concluded, "We are indeed proud to have Siloam Masonic Angel Fund as a vital part of our community and it is with great pleasure that I present them with our 2009 Humanitarian Award. The award reads ‘School-Business Partnership Humanitarian Award presented to Siloam Masonic Angels in recognition of your generous contributions and dedication to the children in the Westborough and Northborough schools'."
