"A New MAF's First Benevolence"
Dear friend of the Masonic Angel Fund,
Today we received the email below from the Friendship Lodge Masonic Angel Fund
in Wilmington, Massachusetts. They were writing to report their very first
benevolence. We decided to share this with everyone to help us remember the
thrill of that first time we helped a child in need.
Regards to all,

Subject: Dear Masonic Angel Foundation
Dear Masonic Angel Foundation, Inc.,
As a trustee of a newly created Masonic Angel Fund, I wanted to share our first
benevolence story. It has taken a little time to get started, but we have been
able to help our first child. Our Lodge's Worshipful Master, also an Angel Fund
Trustee, sent this email out to all of our brethren earlier this week:

You should all feel very proud this morning.
Yesterday, one of our Masonic Angel Fund Trustees, was contacted by one of the
school principals for assistance.
The principal of a local elementary school has a young girl at his school that
has some issues at home which prevent her from attending school every day. The
mom is struggling to make ends meet, and her two brothers have had a tough time
within the school system as well. This young lady needs some help.
The principal and trustee spoke at length about the issue. The school principal
felt that if this young girl was able to attend the before-school C.A.R.E.S.
program every morning, that would ensure her attendance and get her day off to a
good start. They talked about "saving" this girl. The family could not afford
the $88.00 per month to enroll her, so the principal turned to
the Masonic Angel Fund. The girl needs this program, she needs to start her days
in a better environment, with some caring and attention. It may not solve all of
her problems, but it is a start.
The C.A.R.E.S program is an extension of the former Extended Day Program. It is
run at
every elementary school in town and has grown tremendously. The school opens at
6:45 and runs to 8:20 each child gets a breakfast and activities. Parents
provide transportation to the program.
The Friendship Lodge Masonic Angel Fund committed to provide the assistance
needed. The first check for $88.00 was written within hours of the original
call.
We don't know this girl's name, where she lives or anything about her. We just
know that we have helped to make a difference.
Thank you all for your support,
The Trustees of the Friendship Lodge Masonic Angel Fund
