November 10, 2003 - 20th Masonic
District Charity Ball
Dear friend of the Masonic Angel Fund,
Last night we receive the following report from R.W. Thomas R. Hickey, DDGM of
the 20th Masonic District in Massachusetts. His district recently held a charity
ball to benefit Masonic Angel Funds in his district as well as the Shrine. Tom's
words speak for themselves:
I am pleased to say that the 20th Masonic District Charity Ball on October
25th last, was a total success. The final amount raised at the event after
all expenses, was $11,005.43!!! The breakdown was not exactly 50-50 between
the Shrine and the Angel Funds as several people donated exclusively to the
Angel Funds. The breakdown is $5,840.00 to the eight lodges and $5,165.43 to the
Shrine Hospitals.
The Co-Chairmen of the Committee (Wor. Dennis Souweine & Wor. David Blake) will
be making the circuit of the 8 lodges in the District with checks, starting with
Cawnacome on November 15th. The hope is to get the monies in the hands of the
lodges before the holidays to help augment their funds. Each lodge in the 20th
District will get a check for $730.00. The Shrine check is expected to be
presented at the January Ceremonial.
I hope you will be able to include some of this good news in your next
broadcast. Any questions, please let me know.
Fraternally, Tom Hickey
A very significant piece of the "MAF circle of community" is "Masons working
together". Here we see an example of a District that came together in support of
charitable work and was extremely successful. In addition to providing some fine
support to MAF and Shrine charities, you can be sure that the Brethren of the
20th Masonic District feel good about their practice of Masonry. It is this high
morale and the proven ability to get things done that will make the Craft
attractive to the next generation of Masons.
Regards to all,
